Ceilidhs, Weddings & Functions

Michael and Joanie have been performing at ceilidhs, weddings and functions for more than 20 years. They have played all over Scotland and have played internationally for weddings, Burns Nights and St Andrews Night celebrations including North America, Australia, Germany, France, Egypt, Jersey, Sweden, Spain and regular events in St Petersburg and Moscow, Russia. Michael also travels annually to South Korea for a Burns Night.

The Ceilidh Band

The regular line up of the band is a duo; Michael on accordion and Joanie on fiddle. The flexibility of the band is such that it can be increased from a two piece to a three, four, five or even six piece band depending on the client's requirements. The most popular line up is a three or four piece band where accordion and fiddle are complemented by drums or keyboard. Joanie is an expert dance caller. This is a key feature in making a successful event, especially at weddings and student balls. Michael and Joanie also play with a four piece Folk/Trad. band 'The Midgies' which includes guitar/vocals and mandolin.

Disco

Disco can also be provided by the band. The ceilidh/disco has become very popular at all kinds of functions where a wide variety of tastes can be catered for. Music from the 1960's to the present day can be provided and a lighting rig is included.

Michael and Joanie have made numerous BBC Radio Scotland's recordings for Take The Floor hosted by Robbie Shepherd using a six piece line up.
